A new species of Moss Salamander

We are happy to share with you the news about another newly described species of amphibian within Costa Rica, the Southern Moss Salamander (Nototriton costaricense Arias & Kubicki, 2018). The taxonomic description of N. costaricense was published last week in the scientific journal Zootaxa. With the addition of N. costarricense, the recorded diversity of amphibians for Costa Rica reaches 211 species (According to the updated list of the amphibians of Costa Rica compiled by Victor Acosta).

Nos alegra compartir con ustedes la noticia sobre la nueva especie de salamandra, la Salamandra de Musgo Sureña (Nototriton costaricense Arias & Kubicki, 2018) reportada en Costa Rica. El artículo científico fue publicado la semana pasada en la revista científica de Zootaxa. Con esta nueva especie de anfibio se totalizan para nuestro país 211 especies registradas (de acuerdo con la lista de anfibios actualizada de Costa Rica compilada por Victor Acosta).
